Who should play 8U Hockey?

This program is intended for children ages 7-8 with hockey experience and that may have completed at least one season at the Learn to Play or U6/Cross Ice level. Skaters are divided into three groups (Red, White, Blue) to allow coaching staff to provide appropriate skill level development.

How much ice time do skaters receive?

Skaters will have two weeknight practices and usually two games per weekend.

What should be expected for games?

Games are played using half of the ice surface. There are generally two games being played at the same time on opposite ends of the ice. Games are generally played 4 on 4 with goalies. Games are scheduled against local area teams, both home and away. Some tournaments may also be scheduled, but are not required.

Why isn't the full ice surface used for games at this level?

What equipment does my child need to participate?

All skaters are required to wear full hockey gear during on ice sessions.
