Learn To Play (LTP)

2024-25 LTP Season Information

  • Season consists ~15 sessions beginning in November.
  • Skaters MUST be registered with Oregon Youth Hockey and USA Hockey prior to taking the ice. Registration can be completed by clicking here.

Who:

Beginning skaters that are interested in hockey.  Ages 3-12

What:

The Learn to Play program is designed to give children an introduction to hockey. We invite children from the ages of 3 to 12 and we divide the ice into 3 skating levels.

  • The first level is for children who have never been on skates before. Generally, the first few weeks kids are taught how to skate.
  • The second level is for children who can skate. They work on additional skating skills and progress to some beginning hockey drills. These drills include stick handling, passing, shooting, etc.
  • The third level is for children who are a little more advanced and focuses more on hockey drills.
  • Coaches are on the ice and work with each child

When:

Sunday afternoons/evenings November-February

Cost:

  • All Skaters - $50 for the season to Oregon Hockey
  • USA Hockey registration - varies depending on birth year, up to $65
  • Total:  $115 for 15 hours of fun instruction!

Equipment

Equipment rental (bag, helmet, gloves, chest protector, chin guards) is available for the session for a $50 fee with a $100 deposit. We ask that you provide a mouth guard, jock/jane, a flat/straight blade stick and skates (although rental skates are available at Oregon Ice Arena)
