Who should play Bantam Hockey?

This program is intended for skaters ages 13-14 that have completed the Pee Wee level or have qualified for participation in this level. Skaters are divided into teams based on player evaluations to allow coaching staff to provide appropriate skill level development. All Bantam level teams will compete to represent Oregon Hockey at the State Tournament at the end of the season.

How much ice time do skaters receive?

Skaters will have a minimum of two weeknight practices and usually two games per weekend.

What should be expected for games?

Games are played on the full ice surface. Teams skate 5 on 5 (with goalies). All the rules of hockey are enforced during game play. Checking is allowed but closely monitored by the officiating crew. Checking clinics are generally held prior to the start of the season for new Bantam level players.
Games are scheduled against local area teams, both home and away. Teams generally schedule 1-2 tournaments as well. Travel and overnight stays may be required for games/tournaments. As this represents addition cost above the Bantam hockey fees, participation in these events is encouraged but not required.

What equipment does my child need to participate?

All skaters are required to wear full hockey gear during on ice sessions.
